Visakhapatnam: In a decisive move against corruption within the police force, City Commissioner Shanka Brata Bagchi suspended two sub-inspectors and two home guards for misconduct.
On October 17, during a routine drunk driving check on Beach Road, an SI from Maharanipeta traffic police station, an SI from II Town traffic police station, and two home guards were found collecting bribes with the help of an auto driver, threatening to charge motorists under drunken driving.
Following a detailed investigation, Commissioner Bagchi took immediate disciplinary action, suspending Maharanipeta Traffic SI M. Prasad, II Town Traffic SI Sheikh Nazaruddin, and home guards R. Venkata Trinadh and C. H. Shiva Ganesh.
The Commissioner warned all officers and staff of the police department to uphold integrity and transparency, emphasizing that any misuse of power or corrupt behavior would be met with strict consequences.
