Visakhapatnam’s IT Industry Appeals for Enhanced Safety and Crime Prevention Measures



Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh: The growing IT sector in Visakhapatnam has submitted a formal appeal to Commissioner of Police Shri Shanka Brata Bagchi, emphasizing the need for enhanced safety and crime prevention measures.

With Visakhapatnam rapidly evolving as an IT hub, these proposals are intended to bolster safety for residents, employees, and visitors, particularly in high-activity areas like Rushikonda.

Key Recommendations by O Naresh Kumar, Vice President - Rushikonda IT Park Association:

- Dedicated Crime Prevention and Cybercrime Desk: Establish a specialized desk to address both physical crime and cyber threats, enhancing rapid response capabilities for suspicious activities.
  
- Security Clearance Database for IT Employees: Implement a secure employee clearance database to ensure a safe, dependable workforce in Visakhapatnam’s IT sector.

- Tourism and Cybercrime Police Station at Rushikonda: A dedicated station near Rushikonda to address tourism and cyber-related issues, ensuring a secure environment for IT professionals and visitors.

 


- Enhanced Infrastructure for Road Safety: Proposed improvements include well-lit bus stops with CCTV coverage and enhancements in high-risk areas to reduce accidents and protect commuters.

-Women’s Police Patrol Unit: Establish a patrol unit focused on women’s safety, reinforcing confidence among female employees and residents.

- CCTV on IT and Public Transport Buses: Fitting surveillance cameras on all IT and public transport buses, along with secure parking solutions, to further ensure safety.

- Regular Patrols in IT and Beach Zones: Establish patrol units with contact information prominently displayed in IT and beach zones, enhancing safety and public trust.

Additional Measures Proposed: These include officer body cameras, security clearance for private security guards, and collaborative cybersecurity initiatives with IT firms.

This appeal underscores a commitment to making Visakhapatnam one of India’s safest cities, reinforcing its standing as a prime destination for business and tourism. Adopting these measures would further position Visakhapatnam as a secure, welcoming city for all.
