Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Denies Political Motive in Kancharapalem Family Attack Case
Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner A. Ravi Shankar has dismissed claims of political involvement in the recent attack on a family in Kancharapalem.
He cautioned against spreading misinformation without verification from the police, asserting that legal action will be taken against those who do.
In response to allegations suggesting a political angle to the assault on three family members in Burma Colony on May 15, Commissioner Ravi Shankar clarified that the incident stemmed from a personal dispute between two families.
He emphasized that the police possess video evidence corroborating this narrative, although the victims assert they were targeted for their political affiliations. While expressing skepticism towards this claim, he assured a thorough investigation into the matter.
The Commissioner urged the public to refrain from disseminating false information about such incidents, underscoring the importance of seeking clarification from law enforcement before making allegations.
The attack, which left two women and another family member injured, has sparked political controversy, with leaders from various parties alleging that supporters of the ruling party were responsible. Despite these assertions, former MLA and BJP leader P. Vishnu Kumar Raju accused the police of downplaying the severity of the issue, raising further questions about the incident's handling.
