Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Seeks Eight More Inspectors to Ease Pressure on Existing Officers

In light of the expanding cityscape of Visakhapatnam, a surge in criminal cases, and ongoing urban developments, Police Commissioner A. Ravi Shankar has taken a proactive step by proposing the addition of eight new Inspector of Police positions within the Visakhapatnam police commissionerate. This proposal has been formally submitted to the Range Office for consideration.

In his comprehensive representation, Commissioner Ravi Shankar has outlined the specific roles and responsibilities of these proposed Inspectors of Police, aligning them with the evolving needs of the city. The proposed positions include:

  1. Inspector of Police, Highway Operations: To ensure the safety and regulation of traffic on Visakhapatnam's bustling highways.

  2. Inspector of Police – Court Monitoring System & Liaison Officer: To facilitate efficient court proceedings and maintain a liaison between the police department and the judiciary.

  3. Inspector of Police – Cyber Crime Zone II: To combat the increasing threat of cybercrime, especially in the designated Zone II of the city.

  4. Inspector of Police (Zone I & Zone II): To oversee and coordinate policing efforts in both Zone I and Zone II.

  5. Inspector of Police (Women Police - Zone II): To address the specific needs and concerns of women within the jurisdiction of Zone II.

  6. Inspector of Police, CSB Political: To manage security and law enforcement related to political events and activities.

  7. Inspector of Police, Airport Protocol: To ensure the security and smooth functioning of the airport.

In addition to Commissioner Ravi Shankar's proposal, several key officers within the department, including ADCP (Traffic), DCP(Crimes), ACP (Task Force), ACP (Disha PS), ADCP (CSB), and Inspector of Cyber Crime Police Station, have been called upon to provide justifications for the necessity of these additional Inspector positions.

A senior police officer from the city has expressed optimism regarding the creation of these positions, emphasizing that it will not only alleviate the existing workload on officers but also contribute to expeditious and effective investigations. As Visakhapatnam continues to grow and evolve, the expansion of the police force becomes imperative to ensure the safety and security of its residents and visitors alike.
