Visakhapatnam port is going forward with the aim of becoming a landlord port
Due to increased traffic, Visakha Port is expanding its capacity. It is striving to be the country's number one port for this financial year. Already, the cargo handled here has increased by more than 11% compared the last year.
Other facilities are already being expanded and developed by the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA). With over Rs 655 crore, modernization activities are being carried out at a faster pace. Aside from Central Government funds, the VPA is working to generate revenue from its new berths and channels.
Visakha port has already handled 26 million tonnes of cargo in the form of imports and exports from April to August 2022. It currently ranks fourth in the country in terms of cargo handling. It is now moving forward with an ambitious goal of reaching 72 million tonnes of cargo handling capacity.
