Visakhapatnam Set for Major Development with Google Cloud Data Center and Key Projects

Visakhapatnam is poised for transformative growth, as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on December 5, 2024, during his two-day visit to the city. Speaking ahead of the Global Forum for Sustainable Transformation (GFS) conference, he revealed plans for significant projects, including a Google Cloud Data Center, the NTPC Green Hydrogen Hub, and the Accor-Mittal Steel Plant in Anakapalle district. These initiatives, collectively worth ₹4 lakh crore, are expected to commence within six months and transform the city within two years.

IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh played a pivotal role in securing the Google Cloud investment. During his visit to the U.S. last month, Lokesh met with Google executives, highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s innovation-friendly environment and proposing collaborations in e-governance, smart city integration, and AI-driven training programs.

The Google Cloud Data Center, a landmark project for Vizag’s IT sector, underscores the state’s commitment to technological advancement. The MoU for this initiative is expected to be signed on December 11, marking a significant milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s development journey.
