Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, has started the new financial year on a high note with a significant boost in production. The plant has recorded its best performance for April since its inception, with the production of 4.19 lakh tonnes of hot metal from two blast furnace operations, registering a growth of 20% over the corresponding period last year.

The blast furnace-I, Godavari, has registered a growth of 14% over April 2022, producing 2.02 lakh tonnes of hot metal. Meanwhile, the blast furnace II, Krishna, has logged an increase of 26%, producing 2.18 lakh tonnes of hot metal compared to April last year. The plant's structural mill has also seen impressive growth of 100% over the corresponding period last year, with a production of 61,000 tonnes. Additionally, the expansion units have produced 1.43 lakh tonnes of finished steel, marking a significant milestone for the plant.

Another significant achievement for RINL is the 100% growth in high-end value-added steel, with a production of 80,000 tonnes. This is the unit-wise best performance achieved for any April month, highlighting the plant's commitment to producing high-quality products that meet the needs of various industries.

The management of RINL has attributed this impressive performance to the dedication and hard work of its employees, who have continued to work tirelessly despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The plant has also implemented various measures to improve efficiency and productivity, including the modernization and upgrade of equipment and the implementation of digital solutions.
