Vizag Collector Mallikharjuna Transferred Amid Major IAS Reshuffle
In a significant administrative shake-up, the State government has reassigned 18 District Collectors, including A. Mallikharjuna of Visakhapatnam.
According to a government order (GO) issued late on June 22, Mallikharjuna has been directed to report to the General Administration Department (GAD). Joint Collector Mayoor Ashok will assume additional responsibilities as the interim Collector of Visakhapatnam.
A. Mallikharjuna, who assumed the role of Collector in July 2021, has been a subject of criticism from several Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders.
They frequently voiced their dissatisfaction with his performance and had been advocating for his transfer. With the TDP now in power, Mallikharjuna's transfer was anticipated and has come to fruition.
The reshuffle extends beyond Visakhapatnam. In the neighboring Vizianagaram district, S. Nagalakshmi has been replaced by B. R. Ambedkar, while Dinesh Kumar has been appointed as the new Collector of ASR district, taking over from Vijaya Suneetha.
Other districts affected by the reshuffle include Kakinada, East Godavari, Eluru, Bapatla, Prakasam, and Kurnool. Additionally, reports indicate that municipal commissioners across the State are also set to be reassigned in the coming days.
