Visakhapatnam-based AMTZ is taking the lead in the BRICS BioDesign initiative for healthcare innovation.
The BRICS BioDesign Programme was formally launched in New Delhi on September 11.
The initiative brings together institutions and innovators from BRICS countries for collaborative healthcare technology development.
A dedicated BRICS BioDesign Centre has been launched at AMTZ as part of the programme.
The centre will provide a platform for need-driven medical technology innovation.
Researchers, healthcare professionals, designers and engineers will work together on healthcare challenges.
The programme focuses on developing affordable and scalable medical technologies.
It aims to strengthen cooperation between academia, healthcare institutions, industry and innovators.
The initiative will support the journey from early-stage concepts and prototypes to practical healthcare solutions.
Participating institutions include partners from South Africa, Russia and Brazil.
AMTZ says the programme can help expand access to indigenous and affordable medical technologies across emerging economies.
The initiative further strengthens Visakhapatnam’s position as a major hub for medical-device innovation and healthcare technology.
