VMRDA Announces Temporary Closures
The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has decided to close major tourist attractions in Visakhapatnam for two days in view of the approaching Cyclone Arnab.
The decision is intended to prevent accidents and protect visitors as weather conditions along the Andhra Pradesh coast are expected to deteriorate. Residents and tourists are advised to postpone visits to tourist destinations until authorities announce that they have reopened.
Cyclone Arnab Raises Safety Concerns
According to the India Meteorological Department, Cyclone Arnab is expected to move towards the Andhra Pradesh coast and cross between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam by the forenoon of October 28, 2026. The system is forecast to bring strong winds and heavy to extremely heavy rainfall to parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The adverse weather conditions could make outdoor tourist attractions, hill viewpoints and other exposed locations unsafe for visitors.
Tourists Urged to Follow Official Instructions
Visitors are advised not to enter closed tourist attractions or travel to exposed locations during the cyclone alert. People should monitor official announcements from VMRDA and the district administration for updates on closures and reopening schedules.
The temporary restrictions form part of wider precautionary measures being taken across Visakhapatnam to reduce risks to the public ahead of the expected cyclone impact.
