APEPDCL Steps Up Cyclone Preparedness
The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) has intensified its preparations as Cyclone Arnab approaches the Andhra Pradesh coast. The utility has reportedly opened 41 control rooms and kept 4,056 personnel ready to respond to electricity-related emergencies.
The preparations are aimed at reducing power disruptions and ensuring that electricity supply can be restored quickly if power lines, poles or other infrastructure are damaged by strong winds and heavy rain.
Emergency Teams Ready for Deployment
APEPDCL has mobilised workers and restoration teams to respond to potential damage across its operational areas. Officials are monitoring the situation and preparing the manpower and equipment required to repair damaged electrical infrastructure.
Coastal districts, including Kakinada, East Godavari and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema, are among the areas expected to face significant weather impacts. The utility is prioritising emergency response and the restoration of essential power services.
Helpline for Power Supply Complaints
Residents experiencing power outages or other electricity-related emergencies can contact the toll-free helpline 1912. Consumers are advised to follow instructions from local authorities and electricity officials.
People should never touch fallen power lines, damaged electricity poles or wires entangled with trees. Such situations should be reported to the authorities immediately, as damaged electrical infrastructure can pose a serious risk to life.
Restoration Efforts Ahead of the Cyclone
APEPDCL's preparations are part of the wider emergency response underway across Andhra Pradesh. The priority is to protect electricity infrastructure, keep emergency personnel ready and minimise disruption to households and essential services as the cyclone approaches.
Residents are advised to follow official weather bulletins and district administration announcements for the latest information.
