VSP Trade Union Urges Visakhapatnam Collector to Resolve Coking Coal Release Issue

Trade union leaders representing Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) and Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) recently convened with Visakhapatnam Collector Dr. A. Mallikarjuna to address a pressing issue.

The delayed release of coking coal from Adani Gangavaram Port (AGP) to the steel plant.

During the meeting held at the Collector's office, leaders including D. Adinarayana, N. Ramachandra Rao, J. Ayodhya Ram, Varasala Srinivasa Rao, Boddu Paidiraju, Dommeti Apparao, and Srinivas Naidu presented their concerns.

Mr. Ayodhya Ram emphasized that the Adani Port Authority has halted the discharge of approximately 2 lakh tonnes of coking coal from two vessels originating from foreign countries, notably Australia.

This disruption has persisted for a week, impacting the operations of the steel plant. According to port representatives, the delay stems from ongoing worker protests, hindering the timely release of the essential resource.
