Celebrating 171 Years of Indian Railways: Art Gallery Unveiled in Visakhapatnam
In commemoration of the 171st year of Indian Railways' journey, the Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) unveiled a vibrant Art Gallery within the Divisional Railway Manager’s office on Tuesday, April 16th.
Serving the states of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh, the gallery stands as a testament to the rich cultural tapestry woven across these regions.
DRM Saurabh Prasad inaugurated the gallery alongside key figures such as Manjushree Prasad from ECoR Women’s Welfare Organisation- Waltair, Sudhir Kumar Gupta, ADRM (infra), and Manoj Kumar Sahoo, ADRM (Operations).
Also present were Madhusmitha Sahoo, vice president of ECoRWWO, alongside Gatishakti officials and branch officers.
The centerpiece of the gallery is a striking 24-foot-long acrylic canvas meticulously crafted over three months by Moka Vijaya Kumar, an employee of Diesel Loco Shed, Visakhapatnam.
This masterpiece beautifully captures the cultural, social, and economic fabric of the ten districts it represents, showcasing the profound integration of communities served by Indian Railways.
Ms. Manjushree Prasad's contributions further enhanced the gallery, incorporating various facets of railway operations into the project.
From depictions of iconic landmarks like Andhra University, Visakhapatnam Port, and Vizag Steel Plant to the seamless integration with tribal communities and the region's natural wonders such as Rayagada and Chitrakoot waterfalls, the gallery stands as a testament to the diverse tapestry of the region's heritage and progress.
