Waltair Division Ranks Among Top Five in Country for Freight Traffic, Achieving New Records

Waltair Division has secured a position among the top five Railway Divisions in India for handling freight traffic during the initial nine months of the current fiscal year.

Divisional Railway Manager, Saurabh Prasad, attributed this achievement to the collective team spirit and commitment of all employees.

Addressing the audience, Prasad highlighted that despite facing challenges, Waltair Division has consistently excelled in all quarters, setting new records and leading in various departments such as safety, security, infrastructure development, amenities improvement, asset management, and human resource management.

He emphasized that the division is on a growth trajectory in all aspects, with a notable 9% increase in freight loading, reaching 54.42 MT from April to December 2023 compared to 49 MT in the corresponding period last year.

The number of passengers has also risen from 20.31 million in FY22-23 to 22.09 million in the current financial year.

Special trains for Sabarimala devotees from Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam, along with the introduction of the Amrit Bharat Train, further contribute to the division's success in providing comfort to non-AC passengers.

The event saw the presence of ADRM (operations) Manoj Kumar Sahoo and ADRM (infra) Sudhir Kumar Gupta.

Additionally, the East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation, represented by President Manjurshree Prasad and vice-presidents Kavita Gupta and Madhusmita Sahoo, along with the Secretary, extended support by distributing health drinks and fruits to approximately 100 patients at the Divisional Railway Hospital.
