Waltair Railway Division Achieves Record Iron Ore Loading



The Waltair railway division of the East Coast Railways has reached a significant milestone in iron ore loading, setting a new record.

From April 2023 to January 2024, the division loaded an impressive average of 14.0 rakes per day, marking the highest iron ore loading in its history.

This achievement has led to a remarkable total loading of 18.34 million tonnes during the current financial year (April to January).


This figure represents a substantial increase of 25.36% compared to the 14.63 million tonnes loaded in the previous year.

It is noteworthy that during the same period of the 2022-23 financial year, the division managed to handle iron ore at an average rate of 11.0 rakes per day.

This demonstrates a significant improvement in efficiency and throughput, underscoring the division's commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities.
