Waltair Railway Division Sets Record with All-Time High Iron Ore Loading
The Waltair Railway Division of East Coast Railways has achieved a remarkable milestone, recording an unprecedented iron ore loading performance.
From April 2023 to January 2024, an average of 14.0 rakes per day were loaded, resulting in a best-ever iron ore loading of 18.34 million tons during the current financial year.
This achievement marks a substantial increase of 25.36% compared to the 14.63 million tons loaded in the previous year.
It's worth noting that during the corresponding period of the 2022-23 financial year, the Waltair Division handled iron ore with an average of 11.0 rakes per day.
Through continuous efforts to streamline operations and close coordination with freight customers, the Waltair Division reached an impressive loading rate of 63.6 rakes per day in January 2024.
This surpassed the previous best of 62.4 rakes per day achieved in March 2023, considering all commodities.
Saurabh Prasad, the Divisional Railway Manager, attributed this record-setting performance to improved coordination with customers such as NMDC, RINL, JSW Steel, KIOCL Limited, and others.
The joint efforts of all Operations and Maintenance wings of the Waltair Division contributed to this significant accomplishment.
