A gambling racket busted and a whopping amount seized in the district
On receiving information about high stack gambling racket, the Special Enforcement Bureau and Visakhapatnam district police reached the location. The police raided Hayagreeva resorts located in Bheemili and arrested 22 gamblers in connection with the racket.
They also seized 8 cars and mobile phones. A whopping amount of over 5.7 lakhs was also seized. The police also seized plastic coins which were being used as cash in gambling.
The 22 persons were arrested for playing game of cards and placing bets. Four people among the arrested gamblers are residents of Visakhapatnam, while the others are from East and West Godavari districts. It is also known through the officials that the gamblers are being involved in such activities every weekend.
Among the plastic coins seized, the officials found around 300 coins of 10, 20, 50, 100 denominations. It is also learnt that a 50 coin represents ₹5,000, while a 10 coin represents ₹1,000. After winning these coins, they settle the accounts every week.
The bank of the organizer with Rs. 12 lakhs amount in it has also been seized by the police.
Five teams under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of SEB, S.V.V.N. Babji Rao and Assistant Enforcement Superintendent Srinadhudu conducted raids in the resort on receiving sold information about racket and successfully busted it.
