Visakhapatnam – Raipur greenfield road corridor to be the growth highway for Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattishgarh
Niyin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways participated as a guest of honour in Indian Institute of Visakhapatnam’s two day virtual annual business conclave through video conference. The conclave, ‘Vriddhi’ concluded on Sunday.
He stated that the thrust was on development of road infrastructure and allied highway initiatives like Multi-Modal Logistics Parks(MMLPs) and other infrastructure development. Visakhapatnam and Anantapur will be having MMLPs set up.
Mr. Gadkari said that the Union government was working towards the development of a national highway network of 2 lakh km by 2025.
The Visakhapatnam-Raipur greenfield road corridor, that is currently in development stage would become a growth highway for the three States of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
The highway not just cuts travel time, but it would also spur socioeconomic growth in the region. As many as 35 MMLPs would be developed across the country, including one each in Anantapur and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Gadkari said a detailed project report about these parks would be ready in the next few months.
