Visakhapatnam: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AMNS) and The Hindu FIC are joining forces to organize a painting contest for school students on June 5, 2024, in celebration of World Environment Day.

The event will take place at the Biodiversity Centre, near the International Cricket Stadium in P.M. Palem, Visakhapatnam.

This annual event aims to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection. Participants are required to arrive at the Biodiversity Centre by 8:30 a.m.

Contest Details:

Junior Category (Classes 5, 6, and 7): Topic - "How can we save our planet by taking care of the environment?"

Senior Category (Classes 8, 9, and 10): Topic - "What will be the future if we don’t take care of the environment today?"

Event Highlights:

Registration: Free, with spot registration available.
Time Allotted for Painting: 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Materials: Each participant will receive one A3 size drawing sheet. Participants should bring their own drawing materials.

Prize distribution will occur on the same day at the venue. Additionally, there will be a tree planting ceremony by the chief guests, and a tour of the Biodiversity Centre to highlight the significance of the Eastern Ghats.

This center showcases critical ecosystems of the Eastern Ghats and the association of tribal communities with the forests, with sections dedicated to marine, coastal, and wetland ecosystems. The mangrove ecosystem replica is a standout feature of the Nature Interpretation Centre.

As part of their CSR initiative, AMNS is organizing these environmental events. They have also undertaken activities such as water conservation, energy-saving initiatives, and implementing the 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' policy to minimize waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
