AP new cabinet team, along with their portfolios



Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reconstituted the state Cabinet, inducting 13 new faces and re-inducting 11 from the previous team. Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan administered the oath and secrecy to 25 Cabinet members in a public ceremony near the state Secretariat in the capital city Amaravati.

Buggana Rajendranath has retained the Finance, Planning and Legislative Affairs portfolio from the old cabinet team. Botsa Satyanarayana is now the Education Minister, replacing Audimulapu Suresh, who is currently appointed as the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister. Taneti Vanita, who was previously the Women and Child Welfare minister, has now been appointed as the Home Minister. Sucharita had reportedly decided to resign as an MLA after being denied a Cabinet berth for a second time.

The ruling government termed it a Social Cabinet, with 70 per cent representation of the BC, SC, ST and minority communities. Similar to the previous Cabinet in 2019, the YSRCP government has appointed five Deputy Chief Ministers, including four leaders from SC, ST, minority and BC communities.

The fresh Council of Ministers has been constituted solely on caste and community lines, with the lion's share of 10 portfolios to backward classes. Four women members are in this team, out of which one is from the previous Cabinet. After serving her second term as an MLA, film star R K Roja finally made it to the Cabinet.

Amzath Basha Shaik Bepari and K Narayana Swamy, who served as Deputy Chief Ministers in the previous Cabinet, have been re-inducted. Seniors like Botsa Satyanarayana, P R C Reddy, P Viswaroop, A Suresh and Buggana Rajendranath also secured a new portfolio.

Due to caste calculations, S Appala Raju, Ch Venugopala Krishna, G Jayaram and T Vanita got a second chance. Another senior leader Ambati Rambabu, who missed the bus in 2019, also got a portfolio.

Veteran legislator Dharmana Prasada Rao has also been taken into the Cabinet, making him the senior-most minister. Gudivada Amarnath, P Rajanna Dora, B Mutyala Naidu, Dadisetti Ramalingeswara Rao, K V Nageswara Rao, K Satyanarayana, J Ramesh, V Rajani, M Nagarjuna, K Govardhan Reddy and Usha Sricharan are the others among the new members to the Cabinet.
