AP will be the first state to implement the CBSE curriculum in government schools

Andhra Pradesh is now set to become the first state in the country to implement the CBSE curriculum in government schools this academic year. CBSE accreditation has already been granted to over 1,000 schools for the 2022-23 academic year. The number of CBSE-affiliated government schools is expected to grow in the coming years.

CBSE syllabus has already been rolled out for class 8 students in CBSE affiliated Government schools and will be extended to class 9 students in the 2023-24 academic year and class 10 students in the 2024-25 academic year.

CBSE curriculum has always been restricted to private schools and Central Government-run CBSE and ICSE schools. CBSE students are said to have an advantage in national-level entrance exams as most national-level examinations are based on the CBSE syllabus. Given the benefits of CBSE, the AP School Education Department applied for CBSE affiliation for 1300 schools, of which 1000 received approval.
