Chilly Delight: ASR District's Agency Areas Embrace Winter Bliss
The Agency areas of Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district in Andhra Pradesh are experiencing a winter chill, with temperatures dipping below normal.
The interior regions of the district have witnessed single-digit temperatures, as reported by the AP State Disaster Management Authority's automated weather stations.
On December 10, during the early hours (12 a.m. to 6 a.m.), G. Madugula reached a minimum temperature of 7.8°C, Kunthalam village recorded 8.5°C, and G.K Veedhi reported 9.3°C.
Munchingputtu and Araku Valley registered 10.4°C and 10.9°C respectively. Chintapalli's Agricultural Research Station recorded a minimum temperature of 11.3°C.
In subsequent days, temperatures ranged from 11°C to 15°C in interior areas like Munchingputtu, Pedabayalu, G. Madugula, Hukumpeta, Paderu, Chintapalli, and Ananthagiri mandals.
The drop in temperatures has led to dense fog engulfing hamlets from evening till morning, causing visibility challenges, especially on ghat roads.
The cold spell has attracted an increase in tourist footfall to the Agency areas, with places like Araku Valley, Lambasingi, Ananthagiri, Paderu, and Chintapalli becoming popular destinations.
'Vanjangi Hills,' also known as 'Meghala Kondalu,' is drawing large crowds eager to witness the mesmerizing sunrise.
Paderu MPDO Naveen noted a rise in tourist numbers, reaching around 500 on weekdays and 2,000 to 3,000 on weekends at 'Meghala Kondalu.
Post-cyclone, the district administration is proactive in providing amenities, including container toilets on the hills, to ensure the convenience of the public as the temperatures continue to drop.
