Eco-Vizag Art Contest Draws Enthusiastic Response in Visakhapatnam
The Eco-Vizag Art Contest, organized by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), witnessed an overwhelming response, with more than 2,000 people participating in the event on Sunday.
The contest aimed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and protection.
Conducted in collaboration with Ranger Force, an NGO, the event held at the Port Stadium saw a diverse group of participants, including a large number of students from various educational institutions and youth.
The participants showcased a wide range of artworks addressing themes such as global warming, coastal pollution, clean beaches, parks, sanitation workers' cleanliness efforts, and challenges posed by air pollution.
Mayor G. Hari Venkata Kumari emphasized the significance of such social activities in promoting awareness about the Eco-Vizag campaign.
She commended the participants for their enthusiastic turnout and highlighted Visakhapatnam's achievement as the fourth cleanest city in the Swachh Survekshan rankings 2023. Mayor Kumari expressed the GVMC's commitment to securing the top rank in the upcoming year.
GVMC Commissioner C.M. Saikanth Varma shared the corporation's efforts under the Eco-Vizag initiative, focusing on enhancing greenery in the city. He mentioned initiatives like promoting terrace gardening in gated communities and apartments, along with the distribution of over 2.50 lakh seed balls in various hillock regions.
The GVMC authorities announced plans to select the best artworks and award prizes on Republic Day, January 26.
