Visakhapatnam witnessed a significant milestone in healthcare with the inauguration of a new department and ward at the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS).

The district collector, addressing the occasion, underscored the state government's relentless efforts over the past two years towards the development of VIMS hospital, reflecting its commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure in the region.

Highlighting the government's proactive measures, the district collector mentioned the appointment of essential medical personnel and staff to ensure seamless delivery of services to patients.

He emphasized that VIMS now offers a comprehensive range of super specialty medical services, catering to the diverse healthcare needs of the community.

Notably, there has been a remarkable increase in both outpatient and inpatient services at VIMS over the past two years, signaling a significant expansion in healthcare access. 

The government's financial support, amounting to Rs 1.44 crore, coupled with equipment assistance worth Rs 53 lakh from the Indian Oil Corporation, has been instrumental in enhancing medical facilities at the hospital.

The newly inaugurated ward, equipped with 18 beds, specifically caters to patients with burn injuries, providing specialized care for those with less than 40 percent burns.

VIMS director K Rambabu reiterated the hospital's commitment to providing free-of-cost surgeries and medical services, emphasizing its role as a lifeline for the people of North Andhra.

The participation of Anil Kumar, Executive Director of Indian Oil Corporation, and esteemed doctors from the hospital further underscored the collaborative efforts driving advancements in healthcare delivery at VIMS.

The inauguration marks a significant step towards bolstering healthcare infrastructure and improving patient care standards in Visakhapatnam and surrounding regions.
