Waltair Division Empowers Women Through Gender Sensitisation Seminar

As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, Waltair Division recently organized a seminar focusing on gender sensitisation, a significant step towards creating a safe and inclusive working environment for women.

The event, held at the DRM's Office, witnessed the participation of esteemed speakers and recognition of exemplary women employees.

Professor K. Sitamanikyam from Dr. BR Ambedkar College for Law, Andhra University, led the discussion, emphasizing the imperative of ensuring a secure workspace for women.

His insightful talk shed light on the challenges faced by women in various sectors and underscored the importance of fostering a supportive environment.

During the seminar, 24 frontline women employees from diverse departments, including Railway Protection Force, Commercial, Operating, Engineering, and Medical, were honored with merit certificates and cash awards for their outstanding contributions.

Additionally, recognition was extended to five all-women groups, such as station masters and bogie maintenance teams, for their collective achievements.

The initiative, spearheaded by the welfare wing of the Personnel Department under the guidance of Senior Divisional Personnel Officer Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, aims to acknowledge and appreciate the relentless efforts of women across different grades within the division.

Similar Women Awardee Programs are being conducted in multiple locations, highlighting the widespread recognition of women's contributions.

As a symbolic gesture of empowerment and equality, an all-women crew coaching train is scheduled to operate on the eve of International Women’s Day, showcasing the remarkable achievements of women in the railway sector.

Speaking at the event, Divisional Railway Manager Saurabh Prasad reiterated the division's commitment to gender equality and applauded the collective efforts undertaken to create a supportive and empowering workplace for women.

He emphasized that such initiatives not only celebrate women's accomplishments but also pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable future within Waltair Division.
