Honoring Courage: National Fire Service Day Commemorated in Visakhapatnam
In a solemn ceremony at the Suryabagh Fire Station in Visakhapatnam, officials from the Fire Department gathered to observe National Fire Service Day.
The event, held on Sunday, drew attention to the valor and sacrifice of firefighters.
Commissioner of Police A. Ravi Shankar graced the occasion as the chief guest, joined by Regional Fire Officer (Zone I) Niranjan Reddy and District Fire Officer (DFO) S. Renukaiah.
The ceremony was marked by tributes to fallen heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Mr. Ravi Shankar, reflecting on the bravery of firefighters, emphasized their unwavering commitment to safeguarding others, often at the risk of their own lives.
As part of the commemoration, Mr. Ravi Shankar unveiled posters, pamphlets, and banners aimed at raising awareness during the fire services week.
Additionally, prizes were awarded to children who excelled in various competitions and activities, including seminars and essay writing contests, held in connection with National Fire Service Day.
Throughout the week, the Fire Department will conduct a series of awareness programs on fire safety in public spaces.
A special exhibition showcasing firefighting equipment was inaugurated during the ceremony, with Mr. Renukaiah announcing its availability for viewing throughout the week.
The event also saw the presence of Assistant Fire Officer P. Simhachalam and other dignitaries, reaffirming the collective commitment to honoring the bravery and dedication of firefighters.
