Ice Cream Vendor Assaults Police Personnel Over MRP Dispute in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: A constable and two home guards from Alluri Sitamaraju district were allegedly assaulted by an ice cream vendor and his associates near Visakhapatnam's beach road on Sunday night, September 29, 2024.
The incident occurred when the police personnel, in the city for a village festival in the MVP Colony area, objected to the vendor selling ice cream above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP).
An altercation ensued, leading the vendor to call in others to attack the officers.
Police have since launched an investigation into the assault, which has raised concerns about law enforcement being targeted while off duty.
