After years of public demand, the Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at Madhurawada is expected to be inaugurated on August 15, marking a significant milestone in improving pedestrian infrastructure in Visakhapatnam. The bridge has been constructed to help people safely cross the busy National Highway, where heavy traffic has long posed risks to pedestrians.
The project is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters, including students, office-goers, senior citizens, and residents living on either side of the highway. Once operational, the bridge will reduce dependence on risky road crossings and improve overall traffic movement in the area.
Officials stated that the long-pending project was taken up to address increasing concerns over pedestrian safety in one of Visakhapatnam's fastest-growing residential and commercial localities. The new FOB is expected to significantly reduce accidents while encouraging safer commuting practices.
The inauguration of the bridge is also expected to complement the city's ongoing infrastructure development initiatives. With Madhurawada emerging as a major residential, educational, and IT hub, the new pedestrian facility is seen as an important addition to the area's public infrastructure, improving accessibility and enhancing the quality of urban mobility.
