Massive Liquor and Cash Seizures in Visakhapatnam: Police Crack Down on Illegal Activities

Visakhapatnam Police Confiscate 40,000 Liquor Bottles and ₹4 Crore in Cash

In a significant crackdown over the past two months, police in Anakapalli and Alluri districts of Visakhapatnam have seized a vast quantity of liquor and cash during extensive inspections.

The confiscations include approximately 1.32 lakh litres of arrack, 40,000 bottles of liquor, and around ₹4 crore in cash.

The heightened police activity saw the establishment of 37 checkpoints across both districts, leading to numerous cases being filed for election code violations.

Major Seizures and Arrests in Anakapalli District

In Anakapalli, police registered a total of 1,040 cases and arrested 1,273 individuals. They seized ₹3.83 crore in cash, with ₹2.07 crore being confiscated at the Kagita toll gate alone.

The authorities also intercepted 39,000 liquor bottles and established 29 checkpoints, resulting in the seizure of 1.28 lakh litres of arrack across 215 cases.

Additionally, the police confiscated around 1,200 kg of ganja, 7.31 kg of silver, and a small quantity of gold.

Significant Confiscations in Alluri District

Meanwhile, in the Alluri district, police efforts led to the seizure of 4,776 litres of arrack, 2,424 kg of ganja, and 90 litres of liquor from nine checkpoints.

The coordinated efforts of the police in both districts highlight their commitment to curbing illegal activities and enforcing the law, especially during the sensitive period of election code enforcement.

These substantial seizures underscore the ongoing issues related to illegal liquor distribution and the trafficking of narcotics in the region.
