Naatu Naatu's Oscar win is an Excellent Beginning for Tollywood

'RRR' becomes the first Indian feature film to win an Oscar. It is the second Indian song to win this prestigious award, following Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire's win in the same category in 2009. RRR's Naatu Naatu made history by becoming the first Indian feature film to win an Academy Award. MM Keeravani's 'Naatu Naatu' soundtrack was awarded Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, United States. 'Applause' from Tell It Like A Woman, 'Hold My Hand' from Top Gun: Maverick, 'Lift Me Up' from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and 'This is Life' from Everything, Everywhere, All At Once competed with the song.

A Telugu song winning an Oscar is a significant achievement for the Telugu film industry and would mark an important milestone in the global recognition of Telugu cinema. It would also be a proud moment for Telugu speakers worldwide who value their culture and language. This award has increased international recognition of the Telugu language, music, and culture. It would also inspire and encourage more talented artists and filmmakers to share their talents and creativity with the rest of the world.

Yesterday, the Naatu Naatu craze was all over the Oscars. The audience witnessed a spoof performance at the start of the ceremony when Jimmy Kimmel was driven off stage by dancers performing the Naatu Naatu hook step. The audience was also treated to an energetic rendition of the song. Rahul Sipligunj and Kalaa Bairavaa performed live on stage, and Lauren Gottlieb and other dancers took over and set the stage on fire with their performance. The performance also received a standing ovation from the audience.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Exceptional! The popularity of ‘Naatu Naatu’ is global. It will be a song that is remembered for years to come. Congratulations to @mmkeeravaan, @boselyricist, and the entire team for this prestigious honor."

Telugu films started to become pan-Indian films and are expanding their market by leaps and bounds. Out of the top 10 hit films at the Indian box office in 2022, most of them are Tollywood films. This year already marked a great start to Tollywood in terms of awards, as Naatu Naatu also won the Golden Globe at the beginning of the year, and now comes the Oscar. This would definitely be an excellent beginning for Tollywood.
