Navy Establishes 3 km 'No Fly Zone' in Vizag, Bans UAVs
In response to security concerns following the recent drone attack at Jammu Airport, the Eastern Naval Command (ENC), headquartered in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, has implemented a significant measure. An area extending 3 km from the perimeter of naval installations in Visakhapatnam has been declared a "no fly zone" by the Indian Navy.
According to a Navy official, all individuals and civil agencies are prohibited from flying non-conventional aerial objects, including drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), within these designated zones. In the event of a violation, the Navy reserves the right to destroy or confiscate the unauthorized flying object. Additionally, violators will face charges under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
The official emphasized that the approval for flying drones, whether by civil or government agencies, must adhere to the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Furthermore, obtaining approval from the Director-General of Civil Aviation through the Digi Sky Website is mandatory. A copy of the approval letter must be submitted to the headquarters of ENC (command security officer) and the relevant naval station at least a week before the scheduled flying operation.
This proactive measure by the Navy underscores its commitment to safeguarding naval installations and ensuring public safety amidst evolving security threats. The declaration of the "no fly zone" serves as a preventative measure against potential security breaches and unauthorized aerial activities in the vicinity of naval installations.
With security protocols in place and stringent enforcement measures, the Navy aims to maintain a secure environment conducive to its operational activities while fostering collaboration with relevant authorities to uphold regulatory compliance and enhance overall security standards.
