RTC Fleet to Include Electric Buses Soon
Visakhapatnam – Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, State Road Transport, Youth, and Sports Minister, announced plans to equip the RTC fleet with electric buses within the next five years, with support from the central government.
Additionally, the corporation aims to expand its cargo and courier services.
During his visit to the Maddilapalem RTC depot in Visakhapatnam on Monday, Minister Reddy inspected the facilities and flagged off three super luxury services to Prodduturu, Tirupati, and Amalapuram.
He also felicitated 20 outstanding employees from various departments, including drivers, conductors, vigilance, and security.
The minister stated that approximately 1,400 buses will be added to the RTC fleet soon, with the goal of making the corporation profitable through reforms.
He emphasized the government's commitment to making the state accident-free with the cooperation of all stakeholders and safeguarding the RTC's interests.
"The government will induct a sufficient number of buses while introducing free bus services for women.
We will judiciously utilize RTC properties to bring profits to the corporation. The government is always ready to address the rightful demands of the workers," Reddy said.
He further highlighted the importance of both workers and passengers to the RTC, assuring that the government would provide health insurance to workers and improve services for passengers.
The minister stressed that the RTC would prioritize commercial policies and enhance its services to better serve the public.
