Sea phase of MILAN-2022 began in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday
After a grand International city parade with Chief Minister as the Chief guest, the sea phase of MILAN-2022 began on Tuesday with 26 ships, 21 aircrafts and one submarine participating in the event in Bay of Bengal.
The sea phase was scheduled to be held till March 4th. The event will include advanced and complex exercises in all three dimensions of maritime operations.
The sea phase is aimed towards enhancing interoperability and maritime cooperation, and share best practices among the participating Navies. Weapon firings, seamanship evolution, advanced anti-submarine warfare exercises, cross deck helicopter landings, simulation of complex operational scenarios and tactical manoeuvres are the activities included in the event.
A group of foreign delegates who came to witness the event were taken on a tour for Bodhgaya and Agra to let them witness India’s rich cultural heritage. The foreign naval personnel visited Mahabodhi temple in Bodhgaya, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. Other group of people were taken on a trip to Taj Mahal and Agra fort.
