Simhachalam Temple Now Sourcing Ghee from Visakha Dairy
Visakhapatnam: After the recent seizure of 945 kilograms of ghee from the Simhachalam Temple premises, Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy Vari Devasthanam has switched to sourcing ghee from Visakha Dairy for its religious offerings and laddu preparations.
On Monday, the temple received its first batch of 100 cartons of ghee from Visakha Dairy, each carton containing 15 kilograms. This ghee is vital for making the temple’s popular laddus and is also used in worship and other religious ceremonies. Previously, the temple procured ghee from a private dairy farm at Rs. 385 per kilogram.
However, with the new arrangement, it now purchases ghee from Visakha Dairy at a rate of Rs. 605 per kilogram.
Simhachalam Temple, a major pilgrimage destination, witnesses large crowds daily. During peak seasons, laddu sales soar to 60,000 per day, while weekend sales range from 20,000 to 30,000 laddus. Even on weekdays, the demand remains significant, with 10,000 to 15,000 laddus sold. This new sourcing arrangement ensures that the temple meets the high demand for laddus while maintaining the quality and sanctity of its offerings.
