Trade Unions Launch Massive Postcard Campaign to Protect Visakhapatnam Steel Plant

Trade unions at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) - Visakhapatnam Steel Plant have initiated a large-scale postcard movement to draw attention to the pressing issues faced by the plant and the government's inaction in resolving them. The campaign aims to send 10 lakh postcards to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging intervention to safeguard the steel plant's future.

Speaking about the initiative, J. Ayodhyaram, a trade union leader affiliated with CITU-Visakhapatnam, stated, “The postcard movement is a symbolic yet powerful way to emphasize the need for immediate action. The steel plant is a critical asset, and we are seeking the Prime Minister’s support to address its challenges and ensure its protection.”

The unions have expressed concerns over the plant’s financial struggles and the lack of concrete measures to address them. By mobilizing workers and the community, they hope to amplify their demands and secure the government’s commitment to preserving the steel plant, which is vital to the region's economy and employment.

The postcard campaign is expected to garner significant participation, reflecting the widespread sentiment among workers and stakeholders to save the iconic Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
