Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in separate road accidents reported in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The incidents took place at Akkireddipalem and Isukathota Junction on NH-16.

In the first accident at Akkireddipalem, a man, a woman and a four-year-old boy were travelling on a motorcycle from Anakapalli towards Anandapuram. According to preliminary information, the motorcycle was allegedly travelling on the wrong side of the road when it collided with a lorry coming from the opposite direction.

The man riding the motorcycle died at the spot in the collision. The woman and the four-year-old boy, who were travelling as pillion riders, sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a private hospital in Arilova for treatment.

In another incident at Isukathota Junction on NH-16, a 35-year-old woman was allegedly hit by a lorry and died at the spot. Details surrounding the circumstances of the accident were not immediately available.

 

Police are gathering further information and investigating both accidents. The incidents have once again highlighted the need for caution among motorists and other road users on busy stretches of the city.
