Visakhapatnam Police will Establish a Cyber Lab in Vizag



The national cybercrime reporting portal saw a rise of 15.3% in reported complaints. The advancement of technology and the ease with which transactions can be completed have increased reliance on digital platforms, as well as cybercrime. Hackers and cybercrime fraudsters have begun to engage in hacking and cybercrime fraud. Andhra Pradesh is also witnessing a growth in the number of cyber crimes, so the number of cyber security cells also needs to increase.
                                                                       


Mr. Prasad Patibandla, a cybercrime and forensic expert, and other intelligence and police officials met with the Information Technology Association of Andhra Pradesh (ITAAP) team yesterday to discuss possible collaboration between ITAAP and AP Police. Mr. Prasad works with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and also works as a consultant for PWC. He was instrumental in setting up the Cyber Lab at Cyberabad. Mr. Prasad explained different cybercrime scenarios that are happening to target IT companies. The ITAAP team also briefed on various incidents, including fake offer letter issues, ransomware issues, etc.
                                                                                                                                                      Vizag City Police, led by CP Mr. Srikanth IPS, is working to establish a cyber lab in the city. Vizag City police and ITAAP together would form a cyber security group as part of the Vizag Security Council, and that group would act as the first responder to the cyber hacking issues.
