Vizag Cyber Crime cell tracked down fraudulent loan app transactions of Rs 100 crore

A woman from Visakhapatnam has filed a complaint alleging that she was harassed about loan repayment after borrowing Rs 5000 from the Shuttle loan app. After the interest deduction, only Rs 3800 was credited to her account, and she was given three days to repay the amount. Later, they demanded Rs 12000 from her and threatened to share her morphed photos with her contacts. After downloading the app from the Google Play store, the victim granted the app access to her gallery and contact list.

The cybercrime team, led by Inspector Bhavani Prasad, tracked down the account from which she received the money and arrested a man from Hyderabad. During interrogation, they learned about the racket, which was responsible for over Rs100 crore in fraudulent transactions.

The accused, R. Jayasimha Reddy, had ties to China and Hong Kong-based gangs and also received a commission of more than 1.15 crore from the loan app.
