The Visakhapatnam Port Authority has launched its ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2026’ campaign in Visakhapatnam.
The initiative is being conducted under the national theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat.”
The campaign focuses on improving cleanliness, encouraging community participation and promoting sustainable waste-management practices.
Key activities include transforming difficult-to-clean locations into cleaner public spaces, engaging students and youth through Swachh Paathshala programmes, and organising health and welfare initiatives for sanitation workers.
Port stakeholders, trade union representatives, stevedores and students are expected to participate in cleanliness drives, tree plantation programmes and public-awareness activities during the campaign.
The nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva campaign begins on September 17, 2026, with October 1 designated for the nationwide “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” cleanliness drive and October 2 observed as Swachh Bharat Diwas.
The VPA campaign adds to the city’s ongoing focus on cleanliness and sanitation, particularly around public spaces and the port area.
