Vizag will be given a Rs 75 crore facelift for the G20
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation will spend Rs 75 crore to give a makeover to Vizag in preparation for the G-20 nations' working group meetings, which will be held in the city in March. The GVMC's initial estimates for city beautification work stood at Rs 75 crore, which will be used for road improvements, the facelift of tourist attractions, the increase of greenery, and so on. The GVMC intends to finish the works before the two-day global investment summit, which is scheduled to be held in Vizag on March 3 and 4.
The Commissioner of GVMC, P. Raja Babu, stated that the CM, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, had directed the officials to begin beautification work on a permanent basis, not just on a temporary basis. The GVMC has already hired a consultant to prepare a plan for arrangements and beautification works, as the GVMC is planning to identify a specific location as a meeting venue, and once that decision is made, all roads surrounding and leading to the venue will be renovated.
Approximately 200 delegates from about 40 countries, as well as officials from the Central Government, will visit Visakhapatnam for the G-20 meetings. Over ten departments will handle the arrangements, and in addition to GVMC, other departments such as VMRDA, district administration, and so on will be spending their part. The 100-kilometer-long roads, tourist spots, and Araku tourist attractions will all get a facelift.
