Waltair Division Officials Commended for Swift Response in Organizing Alternative Train for Cancelled Vande Bharat
The sudden cancellation of train no. 20833 Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad Vande Bharat on March 08 left passengers frustrated and inconvenienced.
However, the commendable response of Waltair Division officials in swiftly arranging a special train garnered appreciation from passengers.
Divisional Railway Manager Saurabh Prasad, ADRM Manoj Kumar Sahoo, and other senior officials promptly arrived at the railway station, interacting with passengers to explain that technical issues had caused the malfunctioning of AC in eight coaches of Vande Bharat.
In less than two hours, a special train (01833) was organized from Visakhapatnam to Secunderabad, mirroring the original route and offering similar accommodations.
This quick action alleviated the concerns of passengers like B. Ravindra Kumar, who had arrived to see off his wife Vijaya Bharati, scheduled to board the cancelled Vande Bharat for a trip to her native place near Vijayawada.
Initially frustrated by the cancellation, passengers' moods shifted to surprise and joy upon learning of the alternative arrangements.
Special counters were set up for ticket cancellation and issuing fresh tickets, managed efficiently by over a dozen officials, ensuring a seamless process within an hour.
Passengers were offered refunds for their cancelled tickets and could purchase new tickets for the special train, with options ranging from I AC to Sleeper Class.
Mr. Ravindra Kumar, expressing his gratitude, praised the DRM for the prompt response, acknowledging the commendable effort by the Indian Railways.
He emphasized the significance of such swift actions, particularly from a public sector organization.
