'Don't Kill Snakes' Campaign in Vizag Promotes Conservation and Awareness

Snake conservationist Kiran Rokkam led an awareness campaign on Saturday in Visakhapatnam, urging people to protect snakes rather than harm them. The event, held near the GVMC Gandhi statue, highlighted the vital role snakes play in the ecosystem and encouraged a compassionate approach to human-snake encounters.

Kiran shared his experience rescuing five to six snakes monthly in the city, emphasizing how his interventions help save injured snakes and return them safely to the wild.

As part of the campaign, Kiran conducted an educational session for students, stressing snakes' role in controlling pests and maintaining ecological balance. Through his rescue work and public outreach, Kiran is helping change attitudes toward these often-feared reptiles, promoting peaceful coexistence with wildlife in Visakhapatnam.
