The city of Visakhapatnam was imbued with devotion and religious fervor as Maha Sivaratri, the auspicious celebration dedicated to Lord Shiva, unfolded across various temples on Friday.
From the break of dawn, devotees flocked to the temples to pay homage to Lord Shiva, engaging in special pujas and rituals to mark the occasion. Many observed fasts and remained awake throughout the night, immersing themselves in prayers and contemplation.
As the sun rose, devotees made their way to the beach, partaking in the sacred ritual of bathing in the sea, symbolizing purification and renewal of the spirit.
The 39th annual Maha Kumbabhishekam ceremony took place at RK Beach, with former Union Minister T. Subbarami Reddy leading the auspicious event.
Sri Swaroopanandendra Saraswathi, the esteemed head of Visakha Sri Sarada Peetham, graced the occasion with his presence, symbolizing the spiritual significance of the celebration. Together with Sri Swatmanandendra, the Uttaridhikari of the Peetham, they performed the sacred 'abhishekam' ritual to the Sivalingam, invoking divine blessings and sanctity.
The Maha Sivaratri celebrations served as a reminder of the enduring tradition of reverence and spirituality in Visakhapatnam, uniting devotees in their devotion to Lord Shiva and fostering a sense of community and shared faith.
