Vizag Open Golf Tournament Begins Today for Enthusiastic Golf Fans



Visakhapatnam: The picturesque East Point Golf Club (EPGC) in Visakhapatnam is all set to host the inaugural Vizag Open golf tournament, starting today.

This four-day event promises an exciting showcase of India's top golfing talent, featuring renowned players like Olympian Udayan Mane, PGTI Order of Merit leader Om Prakash Chouhan, Aman Raj, Sunhit Bishnoi, and Harshjeet Singh Sethie.

Adding an international flair to the competition, the Vizag Open will also welcome foreign players, including Sri Lankans N Thangaraja and Mithun Perera, Bangladeshis Badal Hossain and Md Akbar Hossain, Nepal's Sukra Bahadur Rai, Andorra's Kevin Esteve Rigaill, and Canada's Sukhraj Singh Gill.


The local contingent will be led by S Muthu, Rahman Mehboob Shorif, and promising amateurs such as Bharat Kollapudi, Kanugula Sreenivas, and S Nischinth Arya Reddy.

With a total prize money pool of Rs 1 crore, the tournament is expected to draw avid golf enthusiasts from across the region. Speaking at the tournament's launch event on Tuesday, Uttam Singh Mundy, CEO of PGTI, expressed his excitement, stating, "The inaugural Vizag Open marks a significant milestone for PGTI as we expand our footprint into new cities and venues.

This move aligns with our long-term vision of promoting professional golf across the country. We extend our gratitude to East Point Golf Club and all our event partners for their invaluable support in bringing this event to fruition."

The Vizag Open promises to be a thrilling spectacle of golfing prowess against the backdrop of Visakhapatnam's stunning landscape. Golf enthusiasts and sports fans alike are eagerly anticipating the action-packed tournament, which will conclude on September 23.
