Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, and Human Resources Development Nara Lokesh has proposed the establishment of an Andhra–Korea Investment Desk to enhance economic cooperation and attract greater investments from South Korean companies. The proposal was made during discussions with representatives from Korean industries, highlighting Andhra Pradesh's commitment to becoming a preferred destination for global investors.
As part of the initiative, Lokesh invited Kia Corporation to expand its presence in Andhra Pradesh by setting up additional manufacturing facilities and supporting ancillary units near Visakhapatnam. He highlighted the region's strategic location, excellent port connectivity, growing industrial infrastructure, and skilled workforce as major advantages for future investments.
The minister also outlined the state's investor-friendly policies, world-class logistics network, and ongoing infrastructure projects, including the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport, which are expected to boost industrial growth across North Coastal Andhra. He said the proposed investment desk would serve as a dedicated platform to facilitate Korean businesses looking to establish or expand operations in the state.
Officials believe the initiative could strengthen Andhra Pradesh's manufacturing ecosystem, create employment opportunities, encourage technology transfer, and deepen economic ties between India and South Korea. The government remains focused on attracting high-value investments that support long-term industrial and economic development.
